The Story Behind It

Dalit Goods was founded in 2010 by UK charity Life Association to create sustainable employment opportunities for members of India’s historically marginalized Dalit community while raising funds and awareness for its ongoing work.

The collection was inspired by traditional clay drinking vessels historically associated with caste discrimination and reimagines the humble clay pot as a symbol of dignity and positive change. Each handmade clay candle is named after a child cared for through one of Life Association’s children’s homes, and every purchase helps support its schools, homes, and community initiatives in India.
